Serena Jameka Williams is a top Notch American Professional Tennis Player who has 39 Grand-Slams to her Name.She Holds the Record for the most Grand Slam wins by a tennis player in the Open Era i.e. Post 1968. Serena has also been Ranked the Number one Tennis Player Eight times, between 2002 and 2017, by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Her Current WTA Ranking Stands at 22.

Serena Williams was Born in Michigan to father Richard Williams and Mother Oracene Price. Serena is the youngest of five sisters. She started playing Tennis at the age of 3. Her father Richard Williams was her and her Sisters' first Coach. They were coached by another man of Same Name, for some time.

Serena Williams lost to 18-year-old American Annie Miller, in her first professional game.She managed to defeat 2 of the top ranked players at the WTA tour Ameritech Cup Chicago (now discontinued) in 1997, but lost to American Lindsay Davenport. Serena defeated Davenport at the Medibank International Sydney tournament in 1998. She was however defeated at the semifinals.Later she competed at the Australia Open but was defeated by her sister Venus Williams. Her first actual Grand-slam victories came at the US open and Wimbledon of 1998, where she won the 'Mixed' title with her Belarusian Partner 'Max Mirnyi'

Serena Williams Competed against male German player 'Karsten Braasch', along with her sister Venus, at the Australian Open of 1998. Karsten managed to defeat both the sisters in separate rounds. Her first grand slam single win came at the US Open against Swiss Martina Hingis. She defeated Hingis by 6–3, 7–6. She also became the first African-American women after Althea Gibson to win a Singles title at Grand slam Tournament.

At the 2002 Wimbledon Championships, Williams defeated sister Venus and won at a Wimbledon for the first time in her life. As an added title, Serena Williams was ranked world's number one player for that year. She won the 2003 Australian Open, thus completing a career Grand Slam. Serena and Venus Williams won their sixth Grand Slam doubles title together at this event. She then went on to win the Women's Singles title at 2003 Wimbledon defeating her sister Venus. Serena rose to a high point of her career during 2002 and 2003 and this period was termed 'Serena Slam'.

Serena was engaged to American social news aggregation website Reddit's co-founder Alexis Ohanian in December 2016. Serena took a 20 weeks break from Tennis while the couple was expecting a child. Serena gave birth to a girl in September 2017 and named her Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr. Alexis and Serena are planning to tie knot soon. Serena Williams has been giving her time to charitable works and she runs a fund, named after her -Serena Williams Fund.
